Built at the Bendzoli inn, Skibe Parish, Dobele District. At the museum since 1935.
The oldest known windmills appeared in Latvia in the 14th century and were known as post mills. Historical documents tell us that Riga had at least two such mills in 1330.
The mill at the museum was in use until 1935, when it was brought to the museum. The mill is based on a 6.7 metre vertical oak support - the pivot. The wings turn against the wind with the help of the "mill-tail" - the log at the back of the windmill. The wings turn the cogwheel which gets the upper millstone going. The flour falls down a wooden tube to the first floor.
